The Atlanta State Farmers Market is off I-75 just south of ATL. It's a great place if you are a cook and it also has a very enjoyable Southern restaurant. Oakwood Cafe is just what you would expect from a small-town Southern restaurant but huge to fit the scale of the market.
Here is the menu. As you can see, they offer a wide variety of both meats and vegetables that changes every day. The service was a little scattered on this visit, but I haven't had that problem in the past.
Here is my four-vegetable plate: squash casserole, red beans, fried green tomatoes, baked sweet potato, and cornbread to top things off. Getting a real baked sweet potato was a particular pleasure; I enjoyed digging the flesh out of the skin and I could control the amount of butter. Their whipped butter in that little container is very good, by the way. Squash casserole was a big treat. Everything was very good.
