Dave introduced me to Akane, a comfy Japanese restaurant. It's tucked away on a side street in downtown Los Altos. Service was friendly and efficient.
The amuse bouche of pickled vegetables was a refreshing way to start the meal.
My miso soup was delicate and nourishing.
For my main course, I ordered the salmon teriyaki. The serving was generous. The fish was tender and moist. The teriyaki gave a nice bite but was subtle enough to not overwhelm the salmon.
