My former student Ted Lee and his father recently took me to Nan, one of many visits I've enjoyed. (Sorry, I forgot my camera.) They were impressed by the elegance of the decor and service. Nan is filled with petite women who magically appear to check on your needs. This restaurant and Tamarind Seed have the same owners; the atmosphere here is less Atlanta, more Asia.
I had the duck breast, which was extremely well prepared. It came on a small bed of vegetables. The sauce was distinctly Thai, more on the sweet side.

I just went there Monday night and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was soothing, the food was out of this world, and the staff was every bit as attentive as you said. I had the masaman curry with braised beef, and it was the best masaman curry I've ever had. I also had the stuffed fried shrimp as an appetizer (which was fantastic, and I don't even like shrimp) and the dark chocolate mousse with ginger ice cream for dessert (which was rich and creamy and made me feel like the happiest girl in the world).
ReplyDeleteI couldn't recommend a better Thai restaurant than Nan. It was absolutely wonderful.
