Dinner at Northern China Eatery in Chamblee

I've always enjoyed Northern China Eatery. I was glad to see that they are doing well and busy. My tofu was hearty and full of flavor with a sour note that highlighted the savoriness. This dinner was like a warm hug. Thanks, folks!

I've decided that huevos rancheros is my favorite breakfast at Hot Betty's: hearty, a large palette of flavors, great textures. The staff is always very helpful and welcoming on a bleary-eyed morning. Thanks, folks!

French Fries

As a change of pace, I decided to make french fries rather than home fries. I cut the fries wider in one dimension and thinner in the other to promote cooking. I fried them twice to a nice brown result but they still weren't as crispy as I had hoped. Perhaps the problem is water content. I will have to work on my technique.

A Thanksgiving Meal

I spent the day cooking: smoked turkey, carrot souffle, corn pudding, pumpkin ricotta pie. I enjoyed a wonderful meal and saved enough for several more. I will enjoy this meal for weeks. I am grateful for my ability to buy, cook, and enjoy this food. I wish everyone a peaceful Thanksgiving.

Dinner At The CHI Health Center Arena in Omaha

I drove to Omaha to see Jim Gaffigan put on a great show. Life being what it is, I didn't have time to stop for dinner before the show. The food stands in the arena were up and running, thankfully, and these toasted ravioli did the trick. Thanks, folks! You made my evening much more enjoyable.

Breakfast at Muchachos

Dan made the excellent recommendation of breakfast at Muchachos. The atmosphere is casual and lively; the food is outstanding. I may have gone a little overboard but it sure was good. My favorite was the green chile taco. Thanks, folks!

Dinner at Troja

At least, I think that was the name of the restaurant. My nighttime photo of the restaurant exterior is very blurry. A Snack at Stuttgart Train Station

A train ride from the main station necessitated a very light lunch as I waited. Ditsch seemed like a good choice. As tempting as a pretzel was, I went with a slice of pizza and a water. That was just what I needed. Thanks, folks!

Dinner at Hoepfner Burghof is both delicious and convenient for me on my trips to Karlsruhe. I always enjoy my schnitzel. The place was hopping and the staff was very helpful. Thanks, folks, great to see that you are doing well!

Nebraska Beef Is What's For Dinner in Karlsruhe

My friends and I visited one of our favorite restaurants in Karlsruhe, Germany. I noticed that the menu highlighted their Nebraska beef. That settled my choice of entree. German baking is wonderful. Dinner started with this excellent bread. An amuse bouche helped ready us for the main course. My Nebraska rib was, naturally enough, excellent. I finished off this sumptuous meal with a creme brulee. Good friends and good food make for a great dinner. Thanks to the staff at Hasen!

Dinner in Germany

I arrived in Germany after a long trip feeling both tired and hungry. A nap helped with the first problem, this very enjoyable meal helped with the second. Protein, salad, crispy fries made for a refreshing balance. Thank you!

Chinese Bakery Stop in Chicago

I had a few hours to kill in Chicago between flights. Witty suggested that I try his favorite bakery in Chinatown, St. Anne. I took a train into town and found a great selection of baked goods. My lunch was two pork buns and a sweet bun. They were excellent and didn't last back to the train station. Thanks, folks! And thanks, Witty, for the tip.

A Feast of A Lunch at Lan House

Witty and I decided to enjoy lunch at Lan House. In a splurging mood, we split the pork belly with buns as an advertiser. Witty's soup was excellent. I went for one of my new favorites, tofu with cumin, a very hearty dish. Thanks, folks!

An errand led me to a new breakfast spot. Penelope's was hopping and it is easy to see why. The cozy atmosphere and welcoming staff make for a comforting morning experience. And the food it outstanding. My omelet was soft and fluffy, my hash browns warm and comforting. The green salsa was the hit of my plate---great flavor, good kick of heat. Definitely in the running for one of the best breakfasts in Lincoln. Thanks, folks!

Breakfast at Downtown Diner in Crawford NE

Downtown Diner is in the Crawford business district. The sign says open 24 hours and that looks to be the case. The place was busy with breakfast eaters when I visited. The staff welcomed me and fed me a hearty breakfast. Tasty and satisfying. Thanks, folks!

Staub's Drive Inn in Crawford NE

A beautiful day plus a lack of propane for my stove led me to explore dinner options in Crawford. Staub's was an amazing find for a beautiful day. Broasted chicken is the specialty of the house. It takes 20 minutes to cook---if you don't get there early you may have a long wait. I patiently waited for this beautiful chicken. Cruncy on the outside, very juicy and tender on the inside. And how could I pass up ice cream? Thanks very much to the proprietors for this wonderful experience. Staub's is on my must-stop list for visits to Fort Robinson.
