Eating Around Georgia Tech: Breakfast at the Silver Skillet

Breakfast at the Skillet is a tradition. My omelet was hearty. Of course, the Skillet has the best biscuit and gravy in town. The staff was wonderfully friendly and welcoming. Thanks, folks!

Lunch at Korean BBQ and Hotpot at Perimeter

Deep and I enjoyed a huge lunch at Korean BBQ on the west side of Perimeter. All sorts of meats and veggies with great flavor combinations. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Thanks, folks!

Dinner at McKendrick's Steakhouse

I've been to McKendrick's once before and I was very happy to return. The staff provides wonderful service that is refined without being stuffy. My food was superb---just look at the bacon on that wedge salad! My steak was perfectly cooked. I didn't grab a photo of the perfect onion rings because they disappeared too quickly. Thanks, folks!

Dinner at Harvest Habersham

Harvest Habersham is one of my favorite restaurants. This was my first visit to their new location in Nacoochee. This new space gives them not only a homey building but a large garden. I believe that it is one of the best in the state of Georgia. The food is superbly flavorful and inventive. The proprietors and their staff are wonderfully welcoming. The potatoes are a favorite, crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. My fish was delicious: crunchy skin, tender flesh, creamy vegetable compote below. Dessert was delicious. A balsamic drizzle perfectly complemented the custard. Thanks, folks! My next visit won't take so long.

Breakfast at J. Christopher in Dunwoody

Dinner at Nino's is always a special occasion: wonderful food, wonderful service. My antipasto was delicious. My chop was perfect, a wonderful change of pace from my usual orders. Dessert was extravagant. Thanks, folks!

I needed something to eat at the midway point of my drive. The day was hot, so I wanted something light. This salad at Mark Twain House fit the bill perfectly. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. And I think that Mr. Clemens would have approved of the pie. Thanks, folks!

Bennie's has been in Marion's for decades thanks to its good food and welcoming staff. My eggplant parm was hearty with great sauce that has been cooked for a long time. My server was very friendly and helpful. Thanks, folks!

Miranda's Delights in Vienna IL

Miranda's Delights is a relatively new addition to the Johnson County scene and a very welcome one. These cookies were superb. The proprietor was very friendly and gracious. I didn't have a chance to try their coffee but I'm told that it is great in the morning. Thanks, folks!

70 Years of Ned's Shed in Vienna IL

Ned's Shed is seventy years old, a bona fide Johnson County institution. I have enjoyed their burgers, bbq, shakes, and of course relishes for many decades. The proprietors and staff are always welcoming. I enjoyed a chocolate shake while I was there---delicious. This artwork on the wall depicts the businesses in Vienna. I think it is also a nice piece of abstract art.

Lana's is relatively new on the Johnson County scene. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere welcoming. My burger was tasty. The homemade chips were the star of the meal, flavorful and crunchy. Thanks, folks!

Cherry Apple Pie for Breakfast

It's cherry season again. A cherry apple pie is a way to enjoy cherries with slightly less work. For this pie, I pitted only one bag of cherries rather than the two I would need for a full cherry pie. Still great cherry goodness for breakfast. I am grateful for such wonderful, nourishing food.

Food Trucks: Simply Done Donuts in Dunwoody

I happened upon the Simply Done Donuts truck in Dunwoody and couldn't resist. Several other people had the same idea, giving me time to contemplate my flavors. These are mini-donuts, a great size that also gives you room to try more than one flavor. The donuts were great and the toppings mouth-popping. THe truck crew were friendly and welcoming. Steak Dinner at Del Frisco's at the Perimeter

I was in the mood for a protein-centric dinner. A splurge at Del Frisco's did the trick: great food, wonderful service, and live music by a wonderful pianist. I love wedge salads and this was a great example. I tried just a bit of bread and it was excellent. My steak was flavorful, perfectly cooked, juicy, tender. What a great meal. Thanks, folks!

On The Road: Weinermobile Sighting in Atlanta

I was very happy to see the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile in Atlanta, taking a short break from its duties. I first saw a Weinermobile when I was little and have managed to see it about once a decade. It always brings a smile to my face. The bottom runner now says "The All Beef Frank Frankmobile" but you will always be the Weinermobile to me.

Breakfast at Kriner’s Diner in Anchorage AK

My last meal on my big Alaska Hughway trip was breakfast at an old reliable. I ste at Kriner's Diner on my last trip. Just as before, the staff was welcoming, the foid hearty and tasty, the coffee plentiful. Thanks, folks!
