At The Airport: Yoshinya at Haneda

My flight was delayed so I ate an extra round of meals at Haneda. I enjoyed my beef bowl at the Yoshinoya outside of security in Terminal 3. Good food, good service. Thanks, folks!

Cruze Farm Dairy in Knoxville KY

Cruze Farm in downtown Knoxville was buzzing on a warm summer evening. The staff was very friendly, the atmosphere bright and cheery, and the ice cream delicious. Thanks, folks!

Baking Bread With A Proofing Box

This was my first time using a warming proofing box. I was skeptical but I turned out to be very impressed with the quality of the rise. The baked bread had a lighter texture that I expect from this recipe (the 100% whole wheat recipe from King Arthur).

Breakfast at Pete's in Knoxville TN

Pete's is a classic Southern breakfast spot. Everyone gathere in the morning to eat, caffeinate, and talk. The staff was welcoming and helpful in the most Southern way. My breakfast was so good that I went back the next morning. Thanks, folks!

Nirmal's is near Pioneer Square in historic Seattle. The venue was charming and the staff wonderful. My dinner was bjarwan simla mirch, an new dish to me. The flavors were rich and the textures varied wonderfully from the bell pepper to the sauce. Thanks, folks!

Athenian Lunch Seafood at the Seattle Public Market

Keith and I enjoyed a great lunch at Athenian a decade ago. My return visit gave me the same delicious food and great staff. The atmosphere is part of the attraction, too---this is one of the oldest restaurants in Seattle. Thanks, folks!

On The Road: Big Conference Lunch

I attended CVPR, the huge computer vision research conference, at the Seattle Convention Center. Lunch service helps to keep everyone on point and thinking about the conference, not searching for food in a strange city. My box lunch was good and satisfying. But for anyone who thinks that traveling to conferences is glamorous and exciting, the reality is more practical.

At The Airport: PF Chang at SLC

Dinner at Bruno's Little Italy in Little Rock

Bruno's is famous for its Italian meals and I can see why. My eggplant parm was hearty and full of flavor. The proprietors and staff were superb. I talked to one of the family who was very proud of the care that he puts into his sauce. I'm very glad to have eaten there and I will be back. Thanks, folks!
