Breakfast at Fig Tree Cafe in San Diego

A Thanksgiving Feast

Thanksgiving started with this french toast made from Le Quartier whole wheat sourdough. Bananas, strawberries, and ricotta joined the party. The main course for dinner was a smoked turkey from Super Saver. Brussel sprouts, corn, mashed potatoes, cornbread dressing, and gravy rounded out the meal. A slice of pumpkin ricotta pie completed the day. I am grateful for this bounty and for the non-material blessings of my life.

My dinner started with a side salad. This small steak was just want I needed. The hash browns were excellent, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Perhaps on my next visit I will work up an appetite and try the prime rib buffet. Tbanks, folks!

Maytag Blue Cheese Burgers

Half-pound burgers stuffed with Maytag blue cheese cooked on the grill. Sublime pleasure on a bun for which I am grateful.

Almond Apple Cake

This case recipe comes from Classic German Baking. The batter includes an entire tube of almond paste as well as flour, eggs, sugar, and baking powder. The results were great, fluffy and moist. Thank you!
