Lunch at MOS Burger at Narita

I needed a meal while waiting for my plane at Narita. I was very happy to see MOS Burger. This popular Asian burger chain is known among computer engineers for its probably unintended pun on the MOSFET, the foundational component of modern computers. As is common in Japan, service was very gracious. My burger was tasty. And I loved the combo of onion rings and fries, a great treat. Thanks folks!

This was an interesting variation on katsu and curry. In this case, a mountain (the restaurant's term) of chicken nuggets came with the curry. Tasty and very filling. The staff at the food court was very friendly. Thanks, folks!

Katsu and Curry for Lunch

Katsu refers to a fried cutlet; I believe that pork is the traditional choice. Curry is the spicy brown sauce. Everything is served with rice. Tasty and kept me going on a cold day. The team at the restaurant was very gracious and helpful. Thanks, folks!

Lunch at Little Miss BBQ in Phoenix

Little Miss is located in the industrial area south of Sky Harbor Airport. The location was perfect for a lunch stop before mi flight. A line had formed by the time I arrived but it moved quickly. The pitmaster was busy handing out the meat and everyone was very friendly. The food was great: tender and flavorful brisket, really great beans, slaw with flavor and texture. Thanks, folks!

My brief stay was very nice: great view of the desert, hearty food, great coffee, very friendly service. Thanks, folks!

Lunch at Pizzeria Bianco

I have eaten at the downtown Pizzeria Bianco several times. This was my first visit to their Town and Country location. As always, my visit was outstanding: perfect pizza and wonderfully gracious service. The meal starts with this wonderful bread and flavorful olive oil. This bread reminds you what all bread should taste like. Their salad is truly outstanding. The dressing is just enough to provide moistness and flavor, not overwhelming at all. I usually order a margherita. This time I went for meat. The sausage was packed with porky flavor. The crust was superb, the cheese of the highest order, the sauce sublime. Thanks, folks!

Breakfast at El Tovar

I enjoyed two outstanding breakfasts at El Tovar, both accompanied by spectacular views and wonderful service. My first was huevos rancheros, full of flavor and very hearty. My second was this Navajo fry bread breakfast, wonderfully rich. Thanks, folks!

Lunch at Fred Harvey Burger on the Grand Canyon South Rim

I was privileged to spend several days at Bright Angel Lodge on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Fred Harvey Burger was my first stop and I ate there several times during my stay. This is the main restaurant of Bright Angel Lodge with good, hearty food and welcoming service in the Harvey tradition. A salad and black bean soup was my standard lunch during my visit. Hearty, not too heavy, great flavor. The soup had just enough zing. Thanks, folks!

Best Meat Pie Ever

I barely made it to Flagstaff through a bad storm andwith very little food. Going to a restaurant was out of the question. Ordering delivery would take time and I was hungry. Then I saw this meat pie in the hotel snack shop. My decision was made. Best mest pie ever.

In-N-Out To The Rescue

I didn't want much for lunch but I needed something. In-n-out was the perfect solution. I ate all of my protein-style burger, a few fries, and drank my diet lemonade. With that, I was ready to hit the road. The team's service is always very friendly. Thanks, folks!

Dinner at Curry Corner in Tempe AZ

I saw Curry Corner on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives a few days before my trip to Arizona and took advantage of the opportunity to visit. The place was hopping with both in-person and to-go orders. Nonetheless, the staff was very attentive and helpful. Based on the Triple D reviewand its emphasis on tandoori meats, I ordered the butter chicken. It was great: tender, moist, flavorful. My garlic naan was the perfect way to pick up the gravy. Thanks, folks!

A Pre-Christmas Dinner at Petite Violette

I greatly enjoyed my early Christmas dinner at Petite Violette. The weather was cold but the parking lot was bustling. Service as usual was excellent, starting at the stalwart parking staff all the way through to the tables and kitchen. My onion soup was full of umami, both in the broth and in the cheese. I think of trout amandine as a very French dish. The fish was tender and flaky. The butter sauce full of flavor. I couldn't pass up a piece of Basque cheesecake for breakfast. Thanks, folks!
