Pumpkin Ricotta Pie

Fall is a great time to make my pumpkin ricotta pie. It makes a silky breakfast along with an omelet. I am grateful for this bounty.

At The Airport: Breakfast at The Blue Door at MSP

The Blue Door is a favorite stop at MSP but I have never tried their breakfast. As always, the service was great and the food delicious. My breakfast burrito was full of flavor and hearty. It kept me going through a long layover and beyond. Thanks, folks!

Dinner at Corndance Tavern in Mishawaka IN

We enjoyed a great dinner at Corndance Tavern, nearby the Notre Dame campus. The photos on the wall show that this is a favorite spot afor sports fans. Dinner started with this excellent bread. I went with the Sword of John Adams. While I didn't have the chance to meet Mr. Adams, I certainly admired his taste in cutlery and in meat. The meal was delicious and satisfying. The staff made sure that we were comfortable and happy. Thanks, folks!

Breakfast at Rohr's at Notre Dame

Comforting is the right word for breakfast at Rohr's. The food is great and the staff even more wonderful. Thanks, folks!

Dinner at Rohr's at Notre Dame

Dessert at Cafe Intermezzo

Some evenings call for a little dessert. Cafe Intermezzo has a well-deserved place at the top of the pastry hierarchy in Atlanta. Their tables were crowded as always so I ordered a take-out slice and ate it at one of the tables on the mall. My cake was chocolatey perfection. Thanks, folks!

Dinner at Galla's

I haven't visited Galla's in quite awhile. The staff was just as friendly and the food just as good as I remembered. My eggplant parm was great. Thanks, folks!

Steak for Dinner

Lunch at Piedmont Bistro

Witty and I decided to vary our lunch routine with a visit to Piedmont Bistro. I enjoyed this hearty grilled cheese sandwich. The staff was very welcoming and the atmosphere was casually elegant. Thanks, folks!

Pecan Tarts

I decided to make a pair of pecan tarts rather than a single pecan pie. I used about one-and-a-half recipes of crust, one recipe of filling, and one-and-a-half recipes of pecans. I really enjoyed the result. Pecan pie is very rich and the thinner serving helps to emphasize the flavors. One for a friend, one for me. I am grateful.

Eggplant Lasagne

I found Food Network's eggplant lasagna recipe intriguing because it doesn't include pasta. I pulled some eggplant out of the freezer and gave it a try. The freezer treatment allows me to wring the water out like a sponge. I probably should have sliced it a little more thinly. I used Paul Newman's sauce along with fresh mozzarella and some freshly grated Parmesan. The result was great---lots of umami and lots of tomato flavor. This will not be the last time that I make this recipe.

Food Truck Lifestyle: Lolo's

I had a chance to enjoy Lolo's at the All-Corvette Show---friendly people and great food. My brat was the perfect match for a wonderful day and amazing cars. Thanks, folks!

Dinner at Single Barrel

Greek Pastries

Dimitrios shared this photo of pastries from Greece. They look delicious!

A Nice Loaf

This is the nicest loaf of bread that I've made in awhile. The pleasing shape comes from the nice development inside. I must have been extra nice to my sourdough starter, which was more active than usual. The satisfaction comes from the process as well as the eating. I am grateful.
