Butter Basted Steak for Dinner

I'm practicing my butter basting. The trick, in my view, is to sear enough for a nice crust, then gently cooking the steak with the butter. My technique is improving and the steak was delicious. I am grateful for such a wonderful meal.

Huevos Rancheros for Breakfast

Huevos rancheros is something I make once every month or two but I always enjoy it. I make my own green sauce. The result is full of flavor and rib-sticking goodness. I am grateful.

Pot Roast

I pulled some Loeffel Meat Shoppe beef from the freezer to make delicious pot roast. This pot made several meals of goodness for which I am grateful.

Turkey Pot Pie

I like to freeze my turkey leftovers and make pot pie later. I made two big pot pies from the smoked turkey I purchased from Super Saver. Both were loaded with potatoes, vegetables, and gravy. Delicious and enjoyable well into January. I am grateful for this bounty.

Dinner at Greek Islands in Omaha

My dinner started with a real Greek salad = Mother's salad. No lettuce here. My lamb dinner was very satisfying as always. Lamb isn't an easy find in this country and I always enjoy the chance to enjoy it. The staff was very welcoming as always. Thanks, folks!

Late Breakfast at First Watch

Some morning work was followed by a late breakfast at First Watch near Perimeter Mall. Either their menu has changed or the timing brings out a different version. I very much enjoyed my vegetable frittata. The service was friendly and the place bustling. Thanks, folks!

A Breakfast Variation

I don't usually have sausage for breakfast but I decided to add some patties to my French toast. It tasted great and kept me going. I am grateful.

Lunch at Piedmont Bistro

The grilled cheeese sandwich at Piedmont Bistro makes a great lunch. The fried onions add to the savoriness. The homemade chips are outstanding. The service is welcoming as always. Thanks, folks!

Skillet Breakfast

I enjoy skillet breakfasts when I eat out so I decided to try my own. I reheated some home fries out of the freezer. I added sausage patties and apple slices. The result was nicely balanced and satisfying. I am grateful for simple meals.

A Satisfying Breakfast

Multigrain pancakes from the King Arthur Baking recipe, fried apples, ricotta. I am grateful for this delicious and satisfying breakfast.

Spare Ribs

Short ribs are a great treat, beef and vegetables all together. A wonderful dinner for which I am grateful.

Bread from Le Quartier

I was in the neighborhood so I picked up a loaf of whole wheat sourdough from Le Quartier. It was delicious with crispy crust and tender crumb. I used it, among other things, to make some very nice French toast. Thanks, folks!

Potato Leek Soup

Soups are wonderful in cold weather. I enjoy a potato leek soup made hearty with plenty of potatoes. I blended the potatoes separately to keep the leek slices intact. I am grateful for this treat.

Another Nice Loaf

I've tried to take better care of my sourdough starter and it shows in my loaves. I will feed the starter every few days even if I don't plan to bake anything. I also give it time to warm up before I add it to the dough. The result shows in the nice shape and open texture.
