Dinner at The Franciscan on Fisherman's Wharf

The Franciscan was always Mom's favorite Fisherman's Wharf restaurant for its abalone. Its menu has shifted since then to emphasize shellfish. The food is tasty, the service welcoming, and the views are great. My cioppino hit the spot. Thanks, folks!

Lunch at Tadich Grill in San Francisco

Tadich Grill is another San Francisco favorite I haven't visited in several years. The classic style of the restaurant and the old-school gracious service are matched by the excellent food. I started with this refreshing salad. I always order steak at Tadich and it is always perfect. Who could resist dessert? Thanks, folks!

Dinner at Original Joe's in San Francisco

Original Joe's is a San Francisco classic. I haven't been there in years and was happy to be back. I was able to sit outdoors on a wonderful evening thanks in no small part to the gracious service of the staff. Dinner started, of course, with bread. My steak was perfectly cooked. My server recommended this pesto which was delicious. And how could I pass up dessert and capuccino? Thank you so much!

Breakfast at Barbecue Kitchen

A perfect breakfast: ham with redeye gravy, potatoes, eggs, biscuit. Thank you!

Dinner at Royal Spice in Dunwoody

Thai food is both flavorful and satiafying. My dinner was just what I needed. Thanks, folks!

Peach Pancakes At The Original Pancake House

The place was bustling when I stopped by for breakfast. The pancakes here have a great taste that you can't find anywhere else. Scrambled eggs balanced my meal with protein. The coffee was excellent and always came with a smile. Thanks, folks!

Lunch at Sprig

I ordered fish tacos for my lunch, a switcheroo from my usual order. They were delicious, as was dessert. Service was wonderfully welcoming as always. Thanks, folks!

The Take-Out Lifestyle: Dinner from Harmony Vegetarian

Dinner from Harmony is always a treat. Given that my meal would live in a bag for a few minutes, I wanted something tolerant of travel. This is my first time ordering their mu shu pork and it was excellent. Thanks again, folks!

Smoked Pork Shoulder Dinner

Time to pull out the smoker. Pork shoulder tastes great and is a good value. I fired up the Pit Barrel Cooker and started the shoulder. I added some chiles and onions for green sauce. I should have charred the peppers a little more. Some of the skin was stubbornly stuck to the flesh. But I threw everything into the blender and the result was tasty. My sauce included quite a few jalapenos for kick. The pork shoulder smoked to a beautiful result. I added some carrot souffle from the freezer for a wonderful dinner. I am grateful.

Lunch at Parker's Smokehouse

In the mood for BBQ, I decided that lunch at Parker's was the place to go. They did not disappoint, tasty food and great service. This onion bloom made for a delectable start to the meal. Ribs were tasty and tender. Thanks, folks!

Breakfast at Home

Travel has its pleasures but also its limitations. This breakfast reminded me of the pleasures of home: apple pie, omelet, juice, coffee. I am grateful.

At The Airport: Layover at DTW

Detroit was quiet and nearly empty when I arrived from Amsterdam on July 3. What better way to celebrate the day before our nation's birth than a Detroit hot dog from Leo's? The Detroit dog is a chili dog with cumin-spiced chili, mustard, and chopped onions. Leo's makes a great dog. My server was very friendly and welcoming. Thank you! After my long flight a little coffee sounded good. Illy is in the middle of the main Delta terminal. My coffee was expertly prepared and went down like silk. Thank you!

Breakfast at AMS Sheraton

I spent the night at Amsterdam after a late arrival and before my return trip to the US. I wanted to eat breakfast before I checked out and went to the airport. Good thing---getting from check-in through security took an hour and forty-five minutes. Luckily, breakfast at the Sheraton was excellent. The chef at the omelet station was great and the other selections were very satisfying. Thanks for starting off my long day with the most important meal of the day!

At The Airport and In The Air: Rhodes Airport and EasyJet

A longish evening flight meant that I would catch dinner as I traveled. This mozzarella and tomato sandwich at the airport was tasty and refreshing. I am grateful. I bought this bottle of water on the airplane. It was a brand with which I am not familiar and it was refreshing. Thank you!

Dinner in Rhodes

Our conference dinner was held in Rhodes. We enjoyed wonderful Greek food while enjoying the historic city. Thank you!

Simple Pleasures, Digestive Biscuits Edition

I reacquainted myself with digestive biscuits on this trip. Sometimes I need a little something in my stomach. Digestive biscuits have some sugar but are not noticeably sweet. One biscuit is usually enough. Thank you!

Fish for Dinner in Greece

This fish was the main course for a delicious dinner. Thank you!

Buffle Cone in Patras

This has been a hot summer in many regions. I wanted a small treat on a hot afternoon and Buffle Cone fit the bill. The name comes from buffalo milk ice cream. The flavor I chose wasn't buffalo milk but it was tasty and refreshing. Thanks!

Greek Lunch

A typical Greek lunch: souvlaki, fries, mother's salad, bread. Thank you!

Lunch at Argos in Patras

Dimitrios and I continued our discussions over a superb lunch at Argos.
