A Satisfying Cheese Lunch in Paris

After landing in Paris and traveling to my hotel, I needed a small but satisfying lunch. A fromagerie provided the prefect solution. I asked the proprietor for a recommendation on a nice cheese pour le snack , took it to my hotel, and enjoyed it with an espresso. Merci, monsieur!

Beef and Pork Chili

I picked up some meat at the Loeffel Meat Shoppe. My first project was some chili. In addition to stew beef, I added some ground pork that gave more body to the sauce. I used chicken stock and plenty of heat. The result was hearty and full of flavor. I am grateful for the opportunity to make and eat such wonderful food.

Dinner at Big Jud's in Boise

Big Jud's is known for its giant burgers. As the photo shows, that reputation is well deserved. The burger tasted great: excellent one pound (!) patty, cheese, and the classic burger trimmings. My fried pickles were a great with a great crust and tangy middle. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Thanks, folks!

Boise seems to have an abundance of drive-in burger spots. My lunch at Big Bun was a great experience. I ordered at the drive-in window, then parked in a parking space to enjoy my hearty burger. The food and staff were both great. Thanks, folks!

Goldy's is a breakfast mainstay in downtown Boise and I can see why. My omelet was deliciously filled with sausage and cheese. The staff was very friendly and gracious. The coffee was great. Thanks, folks!

Dinner at Holborn Dining Room in London

Holborn Dining Room is well inown fir its English food and in particular uts pies. Thry invite guests to visit the pie fhef as he works, a great experience. My chicken pie was delicious and the staff gery gracious. Thanks, folks!

Afternoon Tea at Brown’s hotel in London

Afternoon tea is a grand achievement of civilization and Brown's is a superb example. The setting is elegant and the staff wonderfully gracious. the pastries and sandwichescwere delicous. My darjeeling tea was refreshing. Thanks, folks!

Lunch at Domino's in Patras, Greece

Greeks eat on a very different schedule than mine. A meal at 6 PM may function as lunch. I needed something to eat just after noon and my options were limited. Domino's had what I needed with this very nice salad. The staff was very friendly and the salad hit the spot. Thanks, folks!

Lunch and Tea at the Weston Research Library at Oxford University

I visited Oxford to look at one of their special collections housed in the Weston Research Library. The process involves requesting some documents, then waiting for them to be pulled from the stacks. During one of my waits, I enjoyed a Greek salad at the restaurant in the lobby. I still had some more waiting to do, so I went into the library itself and enjoyed a cup of tea in the library tearoom. Overall, a very civilized process. The staff was great and the experience very enjoyable. Thanks, folks!

Dinner at Micky's Fish and Chips in London

I arrived in London ready for some dinner. As I walked around, I spotted Micky's, which was covered on a BBC show. I went in and ordered some fish with the staff. Seconds later, this wonderful dish landed in front of me. The fish was succulent and tender, the crust wonderfully crusty. The staff was very gracious and efficient. Thanks, folks!

At The Airport: Breakfast at Ergon Deli at ATH

Ergon is a nicely appointed restaurant inside security at Athens Airport. My breakfast was hearty and kept me going for a day of travel. The staff was very welcoming. Thanks, folks!

Spicy chili makes a great lunch. It's a pretty darn good breakfast, too. I am grateful.

Spatchcocked Chicken on the Grill

I brined my whole chicken overnight, then spatchcocked it and cooked it outside. The result was juicy and flavorful. I am grateful for the chance to both cook and eat such wonderful meals.
