Camp Cooking in the Summer of Summers

Camping is a great activity any time and especially during this summer of summers. I decided to practice my Coleman cooking skills. I started with salad-in-a-bag. Fried potatoes go great with... ...steak! Quite the dinner. And for breakfast, nothing beats pancakes, fried apples, and coffee. Wondeful meals in the refreshing, restoring outdoors. I am truly grateful.

Osteria Kayla in Fremont NE

An afternoon drive took me to Fremont where I discovered Osteria Kayla. The food was great and the service impeccable. I started with this bleu cheese salad, full of flavor and texture. My chicken parm was delicious with wonderful al delte pasta and rich sauce. Thanks, folks!

The Lincoln Fun Food Truck Circle

I visited the food truck circle on a beautiful day. The circle has grown to several food trucks and a lively crowd. My wings from Woosies were excellent: crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, tasty and vibrant sauce. The new version of the C&L Dairy Sweet that was here for so many years is a food truck. My ice cream was cool and refreshing. I'm very glad to see everyone doing so well. Thanks, folks!

A Visit to Oriental Market

I made my first visit to Oriental Market since their remodel. I picked up a bag of tapioca powder and enjoyed some shopping. The store is much bigger now. The selection includes both packaged toods and a large refrigerated/frozen section. This store is a good resource to have in town. Thanks, folks!

Lunch at Lan House

Witty and I enjoyed a sit-down lunch at Lan House. We started with scallion pancake, something that isn't easy to find elsewhere in Lincoln. I really enjoyed my spicy beef noodles. Witty went for the pork belly with buns. Everything was delicious. Thanks, folks!

China House in Gering NE

Scotts Bluff is a landmark on the prairie, rising above the grasslands to provide both a reference from below and a spectacular view from above. Gering is the town at the base of Scotts Bluff. I was in the mood for some vegetables and China House was the perfect match. I started with this delicious wonton soup, something I haven't had in awhile. I let the broth soak in, enjoying every moment. It turns out that I overordered. I ate a little bit of this tofu at dinner, then enjoyed the rest for a hearty, nutritious breakfast. Thank you, folks, for your hospitality and wonderful food!

On The Road: Dash Inn in Buffalo WY

I saw the Dash Inn from the highway and was curious enough to make it my lunch stop. It is clearly a local favorite with a long line. Service was very efficient and friendly; my food came in just a few minutes. My ribs were tasty and hearty with a nice tomato-based sauce. Just what I needed to get back on the road. Thanks, folks!
